Physical interface and protocol are not the same

Two devices can both use CAN or RS485 and still fail to communicate because baud rate, message IDs, register maps, timing or data definitions are different.

What to confirm

• Interface type and connector pinout
• Baud rate and termination
• Protocol document or register map
• Required SOC, voltage, current, alarm and control messages
• Master/slave behavior and heartbeat timing
• Inverter, controller or equipment firmware version

Compatibility should be confirmed against the exact equipment model and protocol document rather than the interface name alone.
